Our Story [2021]

The story of GRINGA

Gringa Swimwear was created in June 2020 by Lola Nonnot. It is a swimwear brand for young women, inspired by Brazilian design, while following an eco-responsible approach. Gringa refers to the word "Gringo", used by locals in Latin America to designate foreigners.

Having spent her entire childhood in St Martin and the beginning of her adolescence in Brazil (Bahia), Lola spent most of her days in a swimsuit at the beach. Used to wearing Brazilian bikinis, upon her return to France in 2016, she was surprised by the absence of beautiful cut-out swimsuits.

After completing a Scientific Baccalaureate in 2019 and not yet knowing which path to choose, Lola decided to take a gap year to retrace her childhood in Brazil and Saint-Martin.

Posting several photos and videos of her trip on Instagram, she received more and more DMs from French women asking her to bring them Brazilian bikinis. From there came the idea to create a shop, but seeing the scale it would take just a few weeks later, she finally decided to launch her own brand. This is how the idea of Gringa Swimwear was born.

She returned to France a few days before the first lockdown in 2020. During these two long months, she refined her idea to realize her project and officially launched her brand on the beaches of Biarritz and Anglet for summer 2020. Not wanting to limit herself to the Basque Country, she created a website to sell her first collection worldwide.

This is only the beginning of the great adventure of GRINGA SWIMWEAR.
